MEMIC Construction Safety Management Specialists
ROD STANLEY
rstanley@memic.comDirector of Construction Safety Rod is a construction worker's kind of safety guy. He has more than 20 years' experience in the construction, logging, and insurance loss control industries, and has traveled up and down the East Coast to hundreds of work sites. Employed by one of the country's largest general contractors for more than 10 years, Rod gained experience as a supervisor and safety specialist. He led and took part in many projects that realized over 100,000 work hours without a single lost-time injury. An Authorized instructor in the OSHA Construction and General Industry Outreach Programs, Rod is among the nation's leading experts in the areas of scaffolding, fall protection, and hoisting operations. In addition to his experience, Rod's formal education with the University of Southern Maine in the environmental health and safety program is an asset to his safety management consulting.
SONNY CURTIS
scurtis@memic.comSafety Management Specialist Sonny has more than 25 years of experience in the construction field. Before joining MEMIC, he worked for 23 years with a sizable Maine-based general contractor where he served in several safety management capacities. Sonny is an OSHA Outreach Program certified instructor in construction and general industry, and his down-to-earth personality makes his training sessions informative and well-received. Sonny's formal education includes certifications from Kennebec Valley Technical College, the University of Maine, and Harvard University.
PAUL CARET
pcaret@memic.comSafety Management Specialist Paul has over 20 years in the construction industry, ranging from residential to nuclear power and including bridge and highway, pulp and paper, school and hospital, hydro-electric, pre-engineered building systems, and railroad. For the past 17 years, Paul has been working as a safety professional from Virginia to Maine with duties ranging from a project Safety Supervisor to corporate Hazardous Materials and Waste Coordinator. A licensed Construction Health and Safety Technician, Paul is an authorized instructor in the OSHA Construction Outreach Program.
JAY HURIN
Safety Management Specialist Jay’s experience in the construction industry ranges from projects (some of which exceeded 250,000 man-hours without a lost-time injury and 500,000 hours without a recordable injury) in the continental United States, mostly on semiconductor and pharmaceutical facilities, to an overseas project (the largest in Europe at the time). His areas of expertise include fall protection, respiratory protection, confined spaces, chemical safety, and mechanical/ piping systems as well as effective safety management and leadership. Jay earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Health Education and master’s degree in Industrial Safety from the University of Minnesota. He has logged several thousand hours of training in a variety of topics both in the field and in the classroom. Jay is also an authorized instructor in the OSHA 10-hour Construction Outreach Training Program.
TOM SLATTERY
tslattery@memic.comSafety Management Specialist Tom is a veteran in the construction and public safety fields. He specializes in training for compliance with OSHA regulations. He is an authorized instructor in the OSHA Construction Outreach Program. As a skilled communicator, Tom provides even greater value in negotiating in trade union environments. Tom is skilled in supervisory/management training and offers customers practical problem-solving techniques related to personnel resources. Tom is a graduate of the Massachusetts Police Academy and has an associate's degree from Quinsignamond Community College in Worcester, Mass. He has also worked in management positions for large and medium-sized companies. |
